Podiatry
A lot of injuries are caused by altered biomechanics. What this means is that your joints and muscles aren’t quite working as they should, and that results in abnormal pressures going through certain structures which then causes pain.
The most common change we see that causes pain and injury are flat feet, where the arch on the inside of the foot has dropped. This causes increased and abnormal pressure through the feet, ankles, knees, hips and lower back and is a major factor in a lot of injuries we see.
Our Podiatrists are highly trained in assessing how you move, and how that is impacting on your joints, muscles and other structures. They will identify areas that might be causing pain, and will then work with you to provide Orthotics (insoles) to correct the foot positioning to reduce pressure on the other structures and therefore relieve pain. They can also recommend exercises for you to do to help the situation.
